Summer fruit Giyaling is a twisted version of Traditional Giyaling.  Giyaling is a common pancake in Hunza and is often made from buckwheat and millet making it a perfect Gluten Free Alternative.

10 minutes prepartation

15 minutes cooking time

5 minutes assembling

30 minutes total


  • Ladle
  • teaspoon
  • cup
  • flexible spatula
  • griddle,  ( heavy based fry pan or electric skillet)
  • saucepan


  • 1 Batch of GIYALING made to the traditional recipe
  • punnet Strawberries sliced
  • punnet raspberries whole
  • punnet blueberries whole
  • 1/4 cup raw sugar
  • double cream for serving (optional)


Mix berries place 1/3 into saucepan with sugar and a little water.  Gently heat until sugar has dissolved and fruit is soft.  Leave over gentle heat until syrup has formed.  careful not to burn.

Place Giyaling on serving plate and put portion of mixed fruit onto centre.  roll into neat tube.  Pour warmed fruit syrup over top and serve with double cream optional)
